Pediatric Oncology NP?

To be any nurse practitioner, you would need to become a RN first & get a bachelors degree in nursing and then get a few years of pediatric nursing experience before you can apply to a pediatric nurse practitioner program (which will be a doctorate of nursing practice or a DNP) (not med school-that is for docs & no residency). Then you would have to find an oncology program that even uses PNPs-that is not a given. Realistically you are so far away from this (12+) that to even give you salary & all that estimates has no reality to what you will find when you get there. There is no guarantee that you will find an oncology position (PNPs in oncology is not too common), so it would be hard to even say what your job would entail-maybe clinic work? Really, it could be whatever the place decided you would do. Take it one step at a time.
